Dear surrogate,

I am 34 years old and grew up in Tennessee. I have an older brother and sister. I see my family about every one every few months. I used to do competitive gymnastics growing up and love watching gymnastics at the highest level whether that is the Olympics or college. My parents are from New York so I grew up being a big sports fan of all of the New York sports teams. I went to college and majored in Fashion Merchandising. I always wanted to work in retail because my dad and uncle started a jewelry business in Tennessee and naturally I grew up learning the ins and outs of retail. I secured an internship senior year with a major department store and moved to Georgia. I lived in Georgia for 4 years working in various management roles at the major department store. I decided to visit college friends in Illinois and that is where I met my husband D. D and I were long distance for about a year before I secured a job with a major department store in Illinois. We spent four years in Illinois together before moving back to Georgia and got married in January of 2018. D is also very family oriented, which is something that drew us together- we love each other’s families and share similar values. D is a diehard football fan (college and NFL). His mom’s side of the family grew up in Michigan and we travel to see them frequently.

Unfortunately, in 2019 we lost D’s mom to cancer. She was full of life and a powerful presence in all our lives. D gets a lot of his characteristics from his mother – Passionate, dedicated, loyal, smart, outgoing, curious, and a love for travel. I was always more of an introvert until I met D. He is outgoing and genuinely curious about others which has helped me open up. D’s personality makes him great at his job. He is in financial services and spends time getting to know people and helping them invest their money and implement insurance.

In 2019 we found out we would need to do IUI or IVF because I have PCOS and do not ovulate. After several failed attempts at IUI, we moved onto IVF. We were scheduled for a transfer at the beginning of 2020 and then the pandemic hit, which caused a delay in the process. However, at the end of October 2020 we were able to transfer our first embryo and delivered our baby boy in 2021. Overall, we were lucky it was a successful and medical issue free pregnancy. Our son is the sweetest, funniest, curious little boy. He absolutely loves playing with cars, watching anything on Disney +, and feeding our Labradoodle- Kobe.

In 2022, we decided to meet with our fertility doctor to start the process for baby #2. In 2023 we transferred our second embryo which ended up being successful. Unfortunately, when I went for my 7 week ultrasound the baby had vanished. I decided to wait and see if I could pass the tissue naturally, but after several weeks we decided to opt for a D&C. Now we are here because I have developed severe Ashermans Syndrome from the D&C. We had several failed surgery attempts to remove the scar tissue. Unfortunately we have received confirmation from fertility physicians that the only way to have another child is through a surrogate. We want nothing more than our son to have a younger sibling.

Love,

J + D
